United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women – is the UN entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It is a subsidiary body of the UN General Assembly, established by the decision of the Assembly in 2010 to accelerate progress in meeting the needs of the world’s women, to improve the efficiency of using available resources, and to consolidate mandates and functions of individual UN entities dealing exclusively with gender equality and the empowerment of women.
The Government of Ukraine and United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women Ukraine) signed the Host Country Agreement, which elevates the status of the UN Women in Ukraine to the Country Office.
